Falken Tire Corp. is targeting the premium performance tire segment with its new Ziex ZE912 tire, which it showed off earlier today at a ride-and-drive event near Pattaya, Thailand.
"The goal of the 912 is to move the Ziex program into the premium performance category," Darren Thomas, Falken vice president of sales and marketing, told a group of tire dealers from the United States and Canada.
"Most of the replacement tire market (in North America) is becoming more touring-oriented."
The 912 will be available in 65 sizes, covering 90% of the ultra-high performance market, said Thomas. The majority of those sizes will be available in June.
The tire contains a "hybrid-asymmetric pattern design" for easy tire rotation and rotation wear indicators that provide drivers with visual cues for optimum tire life, among other features.
