Former Goodyear chairman prepares to retire from Avon

March 26, 2007

Stanley Gault, former chairman and CEO of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., will retire from Avon Products Inc.'s board of directors on May 3 after 22 years of service.

"Stan has made many contributions during his tenure, and has been instrumental in helping to guide Avon as the company has evolved and grown into an almost $9 billion international corporation," says Andrea Jung, Avon's chairman and CEO. "His wisdom, insight and business acumen will be missed, and we wish him much happiness in his well-deserved retirement."

Gault served as chairman in a non-executive capacity on Avon's board from November 1999 to September 2001. At Goodyear, he was chairman from June 1991 to June 1996, and CEO from June 1991 to December 1995.

Prior to joining Goodyear, Gault was chairman and CEO of Rubbermaid Inc.

Avon's board nominated Gary Rodkin, CEO and president of ConAgra Foods Inc., to replace Gault.
