OTR Tire Conference, Day One: OTR back orders reach tens of thousands

Feb. 22, 2007

During his presentation earlier today, Feb. 22, during the 2007 Tire Industry Association Off-the-Road Tire Conference, Gary Nash, director of OTR Sales for Yokohama Tire Corp., told attendees he estimates that his company and several other major OTR tire manufacturers could have as many as 20,000 tires on back order each.

The shortage of large OTR tires remains at critical levels, says Nash, who adds that Yokohama plans to import 3,000 more units into North America during 2007 than it did last year. (The February 2007 issue of Modern Tire Dealer magazine contains a full-length interview with Nash about the state of the OTR tire market.)

More than 450 people are attending this year's OTR Tire Conference, which is being held in Rancho Bernardo, Calif., outside of San Diego. It ends on Saturday, Feb. 24.
