Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC's (BFNT) Warren County, Tenn., plant has received an environmental stewardship award.

Officials from BFNT recently accepted the the 2008 Governor’s Environmental Stewardship Award for its accomplishments in pollution prevention.

BFNT has installed new pollution-reducing technologies at its Warren County facility, "which benefit the environment and the budget," say BFNT officials.

"Steps to prevent pollution at the plant include the use of non-polluting hydrogen fuel cells in automated vehicles inside the plant, a reduction in the amount of mercury lighting used in the facility, and water-conserving fixtures in restrooms."

The Warren County plant, which opened in 1990, makes medium truck tires.
