Kumho Tire Co. Inc. plant workers in South Korea have launched a general strike to protest the company's plans to cut more than 400 jobs, according to a Reuters wire report.
On July 7, Kumho announced that its United States subsidiary, Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc., had been chosen by Ford Motor Co. to supply original equipment tires for "the majority" of Ford's 2009 Focus models.
The contract calls for Kumho to supply approximately 200,000 of its size 215/45R17 Solus KH16 tires for the Focus.
