Continental's winter tire sales were up in 2006

Jan. 17, 2007

Continental AG sold 19.1 million winter tires during 2006, 8% more than 2005 and an increase of 41% from four years prior. North America was among the company's growth regions.

"We are very pleased with market developments in North America," says Continental Chairman Manfred Wennemer, "and are counting on being able to continue this postive trend."

Continental officials attribute the increase in winter tire sales to "further heightening of safety awareness on the part of motorists, plus the amendment to German road traffic regulations."
