Dec. 12, 2013

R.W. “Bob” O’Gorman, president of the Automotive Lift Institute (ALI), met with representatives of Dekra, a global provider of automotive testing, inspection and certification, at the company’s German headquarters for a series of meetings about vehicle lift safety.

“Dekra inspects 23 million vehicles around the world every year,” explains Donald Nicholson, president and chief regional officer of Dekra North America.

“We also provide extensive vehicle lift safety and inspection programs throughout Europe. We appreciate Mr. O’Gorman’s willingness to share his experience and insights about vehicle lift certification and inspection programs in North America. As a result of these meetings, Dekra has committed to exploring the best ways to work with ALI, with a focus on the new ALI Lift Inspector Inspector Program.”

O’Gorman’s visit to Germany included a behind the scenes tour of Dekra’s Automobile Test Center in Klettwitz, and discussions with Clemens Klinke, Dekra board member overseeing the automotive business unit; Ivo Rauh, Dekra board member overseeing the industrial business unit; and Hans-Werner Aufrecht, chairman of DTM.

“I was very impressed with the state-of-the-art testing equipment and procedures Dekra employs to ensure vehicle and technician safety,” says O’Gorman. “Dekra’s extensive global experience as a leading vehicle testing agency gives it a unique position.  I look forward to further discussions with their growing North American based inspection teams.”
