Ford Motor Co. has picked Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. to supply original equipment (OE) tires for "the majority" of its 2009 Ford Focus models, according to Kumho officials.
Kumho will supply approximately 200,000 of its size 215/45R17 Solus KH16 tires for the Focus.
The Solus KH16, an ultra-high performance product, has been available in the U.S. tire replacement market since 2005.
"This contract is an important step for Kumho," says Sae-chul Oh, CEO and president of parent company Kumho Tire Co. Inc. "We now have supply contracts with all of the big three automakers in North America."
Kumho also supplies OE tires to Volkswagen, Daimler, Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Kia.
