TRIB offers London Institute Retread Training

The Tire Retread and Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) has partnered with the Retread Manufacturer's Association of the UK (RMAUK) to offer the international course titled Retreading Workshop Practice, commencing in September 2013.

The course is correspondence based, with two mock examinations to monitor progress during the periods of study, extending from Sept. 2013 to May 2014, and a final exam, which can be taken at a local university or technical college.

The course reference book is the RMAUK’s own publication, "Retread Process – Workshop Practice," recently written specifically for candidates taking the course, which covers all the following specialty areas of retreading:

  • inspections - initial, secondary and final;
  • buffing;
  • repairing;
  • cementing;
  • tread preparation and application;
  • sidewall veneering;
  • matrices;
  • curing;
  • pre-cure retreading;
  • legislation and health and safety.

Certificates are awarded to all successful candidates by the examination body City & Guilds of London Institute.
