Mitas a.s., the Czech Republic-based parent company of Mitas Tires North America Inc., announced that Barbara Klaus, an Austrian driving a New Holland tractor mounted with Mitas tires, took first place in the conventional plowing world championship held in Olds, Alberta (Canada).

Her teammate Margareta Heigl won the silver in reversible plowing driving a Steyr tractor. Klaus mounted her New Holland tractor with Mitas 340/85R38 AC85 (rear) and Mitas 280/85R28 RD01 (front) tires. Heigl used Mitas 340/85R36 RD 01 (rear) and Mitas 320/70R24 RD70 (front) tires.

“Mitas has sponsored Austrian plowing world champions since 2001,” says Josef Heigl, head of Mitas’ sales office in Austria’s Traiskirchen.

“Barbara and Margareta were the only women drivers from among dozens of competitors from 29 countries.”

Apart from their success in the overall championship’s results, Barbara and Margareta won gold medals in the grassland plowing category and came in fourth place in the stubble field category.

In plowing competitions, the competitor is expected to perfectly plow stubble and grassland areas. In 2013, the World Plowing Organization held the 60th world plowing competition. Photos are available at http://worldplowing2013.com/ or www.landjugend.at/pfluegen/.
