Pre-Q awarded SmartWay verification

Aug. 6, 2013

Pre-Q Galgo of Dallas, Texas, has been awarded Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)  SmartWay verification for its TA precure design for retreaded tires.

The tread offers low rolling resistance and is for use on line-haul Class 8 trailer axle tires. It meets the requirements of the EPA SmartWay technology program, which verifies low rolling resistance retreaded tires that help reduce truck fuel consumption by at least 3%. It also is compliant with California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations, the company notes.

Pre-Q Galgo TA features an advanced fuel-efficient, cool-running compound that reduces fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. It also has a distinctive green line embedded in the tread design, which acts as a tire wear indicator.

The precure tread is available in 7 5/8-, 8-, 8 5/8- and 9-inch widths.

"Pre-Q Galgo is committed to the environment; now we have an opportunity to help our customers reduce fleet operating costs by saving fuel," the company reports. "For Pre-Q Galgo, after 60 years in the tire retreading Industry, having a long-term commercial strategy is very important. Therefore, we will continue submitting treads for approval."
