VDO RoadLog EOBR fleet software updated

July 3, 2013

Continental Commercial Vehicles & Aftermarket has upgraded the software for its VDO RoadLog Electronic On Board Recorder (EOBR) in time to meet the July 1, 2013 compliance deadline set by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for Hours Of Service (HOS) Regulations.

The final rule includes changes to “Limitations on minimum,” “34-hour restarts” and “Rest breaks.” (Click here to download a PDF detailing and comparing the final rule to the current rule.)

“Our VDO RoadLog EOBR was designed to be flexible and easily software updatable in anticipation of HOS changes and new DOT compliance requirements,” says Alex Capelle, segment leader, Tachograph, Telematics and Services.

“It can readily accept these rule changes. All current VDO RoadLog customers have received the free software updates they will need to meet the new HOS requirements. The update is automatic and seamless as soon as the customer accepts the software deployment.”

VDO RoadLog has no monthly fees, long-term contracts or smartphones required. The compliance tool features a built-in printer that creates an instant paper report of daily log book data so drivers can get through roadside inspections quickly and be back on the road.
