Fountain Tire awarded for safety record

June 10, 2008

File this under "doesn't happen every day:" Fountain Tire Corp. has been awarded a rebate check from the Alberta Workers' Compensation Board for its safety record in 2007.

The check exceeded $200,000, report Fountain Tire officials.

Eighty Fountain Tire locations within Alberta were granted the board's Certificate of Recognition (COR) status in December 2007. (The company established its safety program seven months earlier.)

"This is a significant achievement for Fountain Tire as rarely before has a company with so many locations been awarded COR (status) in its first year of application," says Dieter Brunsch, vice president of customer services and risk management for the board.

Fountain Tire has more than 130 locations throughout Canada.
