TIA releases Spanish ETS program

May 30, 2013

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has released a Spanish version of the basic Earthmover Tire Service (ETS) training program.

Designed for OTR tire technicians, the ETS program outlines the minimum skills and safety guidelines for servicing one-piece, three-piece, five-piece and double-gutter OTR assemblies.

The program consists of a three-hour-long DVD and a 15-module workbook. Technicians who complete the course and pass the 100-question final exam receive a TIA certificate of completion.

Michelin North America Inc. approached TIA about a Spanish translation for basic ETS. After being informed it would not be available for a few years, Michelin offered to translate, re-edit and reproduce the entire program at no expense to TIA. Michelin then gave the Spanish version to TIA to offer to the industry.

“This is yet another example of TIA working together with Michelin to add another level of training and education for tire service technicians,” says Randy Groh, TIA president. “We are grateful for their support and look forward to future projects that raise awareness for tire safety.”

Says Kevin Rohlwing, senior vice president of training for TIA: “With the increasing number of Spanish-speaking technicians in the workplace, a greater portion of the workforce can now receive high-level safety training thanks to the partnership with Michelin.”
