General tire brand goes fishing

May 23, 2013

Continental Tire the Americas LLC reports its General tire brand is the official sponsor of the Inshore Fishing Association (IFA) for the 2013 season. In addition to being a sponsor of the IFA Redfish and Kayak Tours, the company also will sponsor the new Lucas Oil IFA Pro-Am Redfish Challenge series presented by Cabela’s.

“With more than 30 million anglers nationwide, we felt the IFA Redfish and Kayak Tours would be a great venue to reach our core audience,” says Travis Roffler, director of marketing for General Tire.

“A majority of the angling community drives a light truck, and most have a boat trailer, so they have a need for a tire that’s going to provide them the comfort, durability and performance that they demand. We think this is an excellent match for the General Tire brand.”

The IFA is the largest grassroots inshore fishing tournament organization in America. TV coverage of this year’s events will reach 100 million households in the U.S. and Canada via NBC Sports Outdoors, MAVTV, The Pursuit Channel, The Texas Channel and World Fishing Network (WFN). Coverage will provide a promotional platform for the General line of tires including the Grabber line, Altimax line and G-MAX AS-03.

Drawing inshore anglers from Texas to the Carolinas and beyond, the IFA Redfish Tour is the largest and oldest redfish tour in the nation. The Lucas Oil IFA Pro-Am Redfish Challenge series is being billed as the ultimate redfish showdown, featuring the sport’s best anglers in a high-stakes, made-for-TV competition.

The IFA Kayak Fishing Tour presented by Hobie Fishing is the fastest-growing kayak fishing tournament trail in the county. Kayak anglers competing in the catch-photograph-release tournaments can win money and product prizes.
