The Michelin Americas Truck Tires division of Michelin North America Inc., has launched the Michelin X Line Energy T, a dual trailer tire for line haul operations that meets U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay-verified requirements.
The dual trailer tire delivers fuel efficiency, good mileage and durability, and will be available for fleets in May, 2013.
The Michelin X Line Energy T tire is engineered with Advanced Technology Compounds that provide a cool running tread rubber that minimizes internal casing temperatures for low rolling resistance and extended casing life. Compared to the Michelin XT-1, the Michelin X Line Energy T tire will deliver a 10% reduction in rolling resistance bringing improved fuel efficiency.
Michelin X Line Energy T trailer tire has a special curb guard feature to protect the sidewall and shoulder areas, promoting a longer casing life and retreadability. The rectangular bead bundle reduces heat and fatigue.
The four circumferential grooves provide water evacuation for optimized traction and handling. The Michelin X Line Energy T tire utilizes a shoulder groove that reduces irregular wear.
The Michelin X Line Energy T tire will be available in four sizes including: 11R22.5, 275/80R22.5, 11R24.5, and 275/80R24.5. This tire is replacing both the Michelin XTA Energy tire and the Michelin XT-1 tire.
Michelin has also launched the Michelin X Line Energy D Pre-Mold retread, a SmartWay-verified drive tread for line haul applications. This retread delivers good fuel economy with high levels of tread life and outstanding traction, providing significant value and performance for over-the-road fleets, notes Michelin.
The Michelin X Line Energy D Pre-Mold retread is backed by a guarantee of 25% more mileage versus other SmartWay-verified drive retreads.
The new retread follows the August 2012 introduction of the Michelin X Line Energy D tire for highway applications and is the first dual casing Michelin on Michelin retread offering.
Michelin has 10 SmartWay-verified retreads that will be submitted by the third quarter of 2013. The Michelin X Line Energy D Pre-Mold retread has 21/32-inch of tread depth, and is only available for retreading on Michelin casings.
