Pete's Tire Barns stages own 'industrial revolution'

June 3, 2008

With a new truck and press, Orange, Mass.-based Pete's Tire Barns Inc. is making its first foray into the press-on industrial tire segment, says Jason Gerry, who works in sales management for the firm.

The company recently picked up the Watts industrial tire line.

"We always did basic industrial tire stuff, but stayed away from press-ons," Gerry told moderntiredealer.com.

But he says there is "an infinite number of forklifts in our area," representing plenty of profit opportunities. "We bought a new truck and press."

Pete's Tire Barns, which is celebrating its 40th year in business, has 15 combined commercial/retail locations and one commercial-only outlet, making it the 71st largest independent tire store chain in the United States, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.

It carries Michelin, BFGoodrich, Bridgestone, Firestone, Goodyear, General, Yokohama, Titan and other tire brands.
