OE tire brands don't have the 'Power'

April 1, 2013

Do you read the tire studies published by J.D. Power and Associates? The results from the most recent U.S. Original Equipment Tire Customer Satisfaction Study are not high on brand loyalty.

Brands such as Michelin and Pirelli fared well, for they finished first in customer satisfaction among OE tire brands in their respective categories (three for Michelin, one for Pirelli). Overall, however, the numbers tell the story.

What numbers, you ask? If you are an independent tire retailer, you will want to read the latest blog from Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich: "J.D. Power study says OE tire brands are replaced with the same brand 28% of the time."

And wait until you read what the study has to say about run-flats! (Hint: You won't be surprised.)

The blog analyzes the results revealed in "J.D. Power: Run-flats and fuel-efficient tires don't meet expectations."

What do you think? Are the results accurate? Read both the news item and Ulrich's blog, then share your thoughts about OE tires with us by leaving a comment!
