Discount Tire Co. Inc., the country's largest independent tire store chain, has opened its 700th store, an outlet in Waxahachie, Texas. "This is an important milestone for the growth of our company," says Rick Sims, Discount Tire regional vice president.
The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company has added more than 40 stores in the last 12 months.
Texas is Discount Tire's largest region with some 200 stores and 3,900 employees.
The chain sells its own Arizonian brand, plus Goodyear, Dunlop, BFGoodrich, Michelin, Uniroyal, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Continental and other consumer tire brands.
