Pirelli named the official tire of Challenge Club Racing Series

March 12, 2013

Officials of Pirelli Tire North America and the Challenge Club Racing series announced today a new partnership that will see the Pirelli P Zero become the official tire of the United States based racing series that showcases late-model Ferraris.

The new relationship adds to Pirelli’s role as the premier tire supplier for multiple racing series in North America. Pirelli also has a long-standing relationship with the GRAND-AM Ferrari Challenge series that began its 2013 season at the Rolex 24 at Daytona last month.

“Pirelli has more than 100 years of competition history and heritage and a great deal of that success has come with Ferrari,” said Rafael Navarro, Vice President of Communications, Media Relations and Motorsports. “We look forward to further adding to this legacy in our new relationship with Challenge Club Racing, which is a fitting addition to our portfolio of premium racing programs in North America and an ideal way to engage with Ferrari enthusiasts.”

The Challenge Club Racing announcement is the second new racing series partnership Pirelli has announced in less than a month’s time. Late last month, Pirelli was named the official tire of the NARRA (North American Road Racing Association) in support the SRT Viper Cup Series and the US GT Championship.

“Pirelli is involved in over 250 diverse motorsport series around the world, manufacturing over 720,000 tires for all of these motorsport activities this year,” Navarro said.  “Supplying Challenge Club Racing and these other fine championships demonstrates our commitment to growth and emphasizes that we are the tire manufacturer that is most involved in motorsport at both national and international levels all over the world.”

Challenge Club Racing is a series built from one of the largest groups of Ferrari racing privateers in the United Sates. Ferrari owners are given the opportunity to enjoy some of the best circuits while sharing both competition and social aspects of the series with fellow Ferrari owners.  Pirelli is a natural fit and will provide a product that has been designed and manufactured by the Italian tire giant specifically for the vehicles in the series.

“Partnering with Pirelli gives our drivers the ability to race at the highest level,” said John Houghtaling, President and Founder of Challenge Club Racing. “Pirelli is internationally recognized and their involvement with Challenge Club Racing will showcase our series to a diverse audience of racing enthusiasts.”

Challenge Club Racing will be serviced by Pirelli Motorsport tire dealer Bob Woodman Tire and will open its season with Pirelli in conjunction with the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) 12 Hours of Sebring event.
