Orland Wolford will leave TBC on Feb. 28

Orland Wolford, vice-chairman of TBC Corp. since April 2012, will retire on Feb. 28, 2013. He joined the company in June 2000 as CEO and president of the Tire Kingdom retail chain.

“Orland’s hands-on, people first leadership style coupled with his expertise in the automotive industry has been integral in the growth and success of TBC,” says Larry Day, chairman, CEO and president of TBC.

“Notably, Orland has led the growth of TBC’s retail division, most recently with the acquisition and relocation of Midas International. While he will be missed, we wish him the best on his well-deserved retirement.”

As CEO and president of the TBC Retail Group for the last four-plus years, the company grew from 148 Tire Kingdom stores in the state of Florida to more than 2,700 tire and automotive service centers throughout the United States and Canada. The group operates as National Tire & Battery, Merchant’s Tire and Auto Centers, Big O Tiresand Midas.

Over the course of his 40-year career, Wolford has held senior management positions with a number of leading companies in the automotive service industry, including the former Firestone Tire & Rubber Co.

“The last 12 years have been the most rewarding part of my entire career,” says Wolford.

“I will certainly miss the many fine people who I have worked with over the years. I am proud to have been associated with TBC and wish it continued success.” Wolford went on to say that he is looking forward to spending time with this family.

Day will take active management of TBC’s franchise group, with the Big O Tires, Midas, SpeeDee Oil Change & Tune-up and RO Writerbusiness units reporting directly to him.
