Apollo Tyres Ltd won the Tire Manufacturer of the Year award at the Tire Technology Expo in Cologne, Germany.

The company’s growth and new R&D center in the Netherlands were cited as reasons for its selection.

According to Apollo, a second strategic five-year growth journey began in 2011 with the goal of securing a place in the world’s Top 10 tire makers. The company is seeking to expand beyond its three domestic markets in Asia, Europe and Africa.

“Six Sigma initiatives, emphasis on automation and state-of-the-art machinery manned by skilled resources, product innovations and service solutions are now an integral part of our value proposition to customers,” says Onkar Kanwar, Apollo chairman.
