Tire dealer Dom Lamantea dies at 69

Longtime tire dealer Dominic "Dom" Lamantea died the evening of Jan. 4, 2013. He was 69.

Lamantea, who had been battling cancer, worked for Englewood Tire Wholesale Inc. He also served as second vice president and board member of the New York Tire Dealers Association Inc. (NYTDA).

"Dom was very well respected in our industry," says Chrissy Picarello, one of the principals of Middle Island Tire in Coram, N.Y., and former executive director of the NYTDA.

Lamantea was preceded in death by his wife, Camille; his father, Frank; a brother, George; and a sister, Catherine. He leaves behind two daughters, Tricia and Traci; two grandchildren, Lexa and Jasper; his mother, Catherine; a brother, Jack; and two sisters, Dolli Bacchi and Sandy Leone.

Calling hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, and Monday, Jan. 7, at the Commack Abby Inc. funeral home (96 Commack Rd. in Commack, N.Y.).

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Cyril Methodias Church (105 Half Hollow Rd. in Deer Park, N.Y.).
