Cooper Tire names controller for Cooper Kenda

Dec. 28, 2009

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has named William Wang as controller of Cooper Kenda Tire Co. (CKT), Cooper's manufacturing joint venture in Kunshan, China.

Currently serving as controller of Cooper Chengshan Tire Co., Cooper’s manufacturing joint venture in Rongchen City, China, Wang replaces Mark Ehren, who is on medical leave.

In his new position, Wang will report directly to Cooper Kenda Tire General Manager Jim Fitzgerald and will be responsible for financial planning, preparation of the operation’s financial statements, budgeting, internal controls and review and oversight of the general ledger to ensure the integrity and accuracy of accounts.

In addition to his new role, Wang will continue responsibility for leading the enterprise resource planning initiative and key information technology projects in Cooper Chengshan to ensure the effective and efficient recording of accounting transactions.

Wang has worked as controller at Cooper Chengshan Tire for two years. He previously worked for SAS Institute Taiwan, IBM Taiwan Business Consulting Services, Arthur Andersen/Deloitte Consulting, Ho Yan Enterprise, Cathay United Bank and KPMG Peat Marwick Taiwan.

Until Wang’s successor is named, Cooper Asia Chief Financial Officer Jerry Long will take on additional responsibility as interim controller at Cooper Chengshan Tire.

“CKT is an integral part of Cooper’s strategic plan,” says Cooper Asia General Manager Allen Tsaur. “As the company remolds its global footprint to support the growing domestic and export markets, the Asian operations will play a critical role in meeting Cooper’s overall financial targets. We are confident in William and Jerry’s ability to effectively manage the business’s accounting activities.”
