Discount co-founder's foundation gives $15M

The Ted and Jane Von Voigtlander Foundation hs donated $15 million to The University of Michigan Health System. The late Ted Von Voigtlander was a co-founder of Discount Tire Co.

The donation is the largest gift that the Health System has ever received. It will allow the program to continue service in several key areas, including fetal diagnosis and fetal surgery.

In addition, the university's board of regents is expected to approve the naming of The University of Michigan's Women's Hospital after the Voigtlanders.

"We are thrilled with this extraordinary gift," says Patricia Warner, associate hospital director. "This new, state-of-the-art facility, with its new treatments and technology, will allow us to continue providing the best obstetric and pediatric care in Michigan."

Ted Von Voigtlander died in 1999. His wife died in 2007.
