Pirelli will raise prices up to 4.5%

Dec. 3, 2009

Due to escalating raw material costs, Pirelli Tire LLC will increase prices up to 4.5% on all passenger and light truck tires -- excluding its P4/P5 touring lines.

(Pirelli has been importing its P4 and P5 touring tires from China.)

The price increases will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2010.

Pirelli is not the only tire manufacturer to announce a price increase on passenger and light truck tires. Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. (up to 8%), Yokohama Tire Corp. (up to 6%), Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC (up to 5%), Continental Tire North America Inc. (up to 5%) and Nexen Tire America Inc. (8%) also will raise prices on Jan. 1.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. (up to 6%) and Falken Tire Corp. (up to 7%) raised consumer tire prices on Dec. 1.
