November MTD looks at reactions to tariff

Nov. 16, 2009

How are independent tire dealers and tire manufacturers responding to the recently imposed tariff on certain Chinese-made passenger and light truck tires? Find out in the November issue of Modern Tire Dealer, available now!

A special report written by MTD Editor Bob Ulrich and Senior Editor Mike Manges reveals which tiremakers went public with statements about the tariffs, who supported the controversial action and who opposed it,  how the 35%duty is already affecting tire supply and pricing, and more.

"It's certainly going to raise prices dramatically," says John Quirk, CEO of Lewiston, Maine-based VIP Parts, Tires and Service, one of the country's largest independent tire store chains. "Not only are prices of Chinese products going to go way up, I think every tire manufacturer is going to follow suit. We're going to see multiple price increaes throughout the year."
