Marangoni adds winter RingTread patterns

Nov. 11, 2009

Marangoni Retreading Systems, part of Marangoni SpA, has added two lines to its RingTread precure winter tire tread offerings targeting Europe.

The GRIP series 60 and 70 pattern was designed for long-distance applications on snow-covered and slippery roads, such as mountain passes. The profile, which also can be used for retreading traditional 80 series tires, features the following:

* circumferential grooves aimed at guaranteeing driving stability;

* numerous sipes and a bridge between the cross grooves to prevent the risk of breakage inside the blocks.

The new RSY397 drive-axle profile is designed for extreme winter conditions. Marangoni suggests it be fitted on the vehicle at the beginning of winter season and then be used over a 12 months period.

“In the first phase of their life, in fact, the tires have an aggressive pattern that ensures safe travel even in extreme conditions; subsequently, as it wears out, the tread assumes the characteristics of an all-position pattern, and is thus well suited to be used for the remaining months.”

The design has deep grooves and a wide footprint with semi-rounded shoulders, plus special siping “that ensures excellent control on wet, snow-covered and icy surfaces.

The RSY397 profile, approved by Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd., is available for 80 series tires -- specifically sizes 295/80R22.5 and 315/80R22.5.

The RSY397 and GRIP profiles complete the RingTread winter range.
