SEMA Show, Day Three: BKT displays new farm tires

Nov. 5, 2009

Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT-Tyres) is displaying several new commercial tires, including a tire designed for large farm combines, at this week's Specialty Equipment Market Association Show.

The AgriMax "will fit standard combine (wheels)," says BKT Sales Director Bill Haney.

Available in size 900/60R32, it has a maximum load carrying capacity of 18,200 pounds at 46 psi when driven at 25 miles per hour. "Combines usually run at lower speeds." Three additional sizes will be available within a few months.

Also new from BKT is a radial metric flotation tire in size 710/40R22.5 "used in truck conversions for ag purposes," says Haney. "The idea is that dual 22.5-inch standard truck tires come off and a single, large flotation tire goes on so the truck can become a farming tool."

The Mumbai, India-based tiremaker also is displaying a skidder tire that's available in several sizes. It features steel belt construction "with a longer life compound."
