SEMA Show, Day Three: Nokian rolls out all-season tire

Nov. 5, 2009

For years, Nokian Tyres Inc. has preached "winter tires in winter, summer tires in summer." In a big departure from that mantra, the company has rolled out a new all-season passenger tire.

The Nokian eNTYRE will be available this March, Nokian officials told www.moderntiredealer.com yesterday, Nov. 4, during the product's official introduction in Las Vegas. Nev.

Nokian's dealers "requested a product to offer their all-season customers," said Nokian President Bernie Del Duca.

The eNTYRE contains a variety of features, including "3D Sipes," a special "Splash Stopper" that redirects the flow of expelled water, four hand-polished tread grooves, indicators molded into the tire's tread that notify drivers when tread levels have dropped too low, and more. It also has been designed to be eco-friendly. ("The birch leaf insignia on the sidewall... guarantees the complete absence of toxic chemicals.")

Del Duca explained that while Nokian will continue to recommend dedicated winter tires for winter driving conditions, the eNTYRE will help its dealers pick up business "south of the Mason-Dixon line" and in other warm-weather regions.
