TGI continues Latin American expansion

May 14, 2008

Miami, Fla.-based importer/exporter Tire Group International Inc. (TGI) has opened a sales office in Panama City, Panama. "Establishing a local presence in Panama fits into our growth strategy," says TGI CEO Tony Gonzalez.

"Panama is a country that is experiencing a construction boom in addition to the current Panama Canal expansion project. There is also the future opportunity of opening a distribution center in the (country's) free zone area, this can only further enhance TGI’s distribution capabilities."

The new office will be run by Augusto Terracciano, who comes to TGI "with a vast knowledge of the local Panamanian market and a background in international commerce," according to TGI officials.

This past March, TGI announced it had acquired the assets of Serit Tire Wholesale, a tire exporter that specializes in sales to Brazil and the Caribbean. Before that, TGI opened a sales office in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and another in Barquisimeto, Venezuela.
