Whitton and Toyo tires score win at South Point SNORE 250

Oct. 6, 2009

Ron Whitton, with co-driver Chas Dana, piloted their Toyo Tires/Whitton Companies/G&R Racing Ford F-150 to the overall win in Primm, Nevada this past weekend.  Competing on 39X13.50R17 Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires, Whitton and Dana finished the desert race course with a time of 04:59:26.343.  This race marks the second consecutive SNORE win for Whitton and Dana. Whitton’s race was trouble free except for a header bolt which fell out on the second lap.  The team spent nine and a half minutes repairing the bolt in the pits, but made up their deficit to win overall by a margin of 50-seconds.

“These Toyo Tires are awesome,” said Whitton.  “Considering we have a 5,000 pound truck running through rocks and holes, they are the greatest things that have happened to us in off-road racing.”

“We are excited to see Ron Whitton and Chas Dana capture a second consecutive win in SNORE off-road racing on Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires,” said Stan Chen, manager of events and motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp.  “This also backs up the overall win by Toyo Tires and Robby Gordon at Primm during the last SCORE desert race.”

Open Country M/T tires by Toyo Tires come in a broad range of sizes and feature an Attack tread design with hook-shaped tread blocks for excellent off road traction.  A three-ply casing delivers superior handling both on and off-road while adding to the life of the tire.  Scalloped shoulder blocks and a high performance cap ply construction also contribute to increased traction and wear.
