Gordon and Toyo win Terrible’s Primm 300

Sept. 15, 2009

Robby Gordon, drove his No. 77 Monster Energy/Toyo Tires /Polaris Chevy CK1500 trophy truck to yet another SCORE off-road race victory this year, winning overall in the 14th Annual SCORE Terrible’s Primm 300 in Primm, Nevada.  Gordon’s truck is equipped with 39X13.50R17 Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires, contributing to an impressive 2009 SCORE streak which includes two wins, one second and one seventh out of four races.

This win was especially impressive as Gordon is still recovering from injuries sustained during a high-speed testing crash with his Hummer H3 racer only a few weeks prior.  He endured the challenging 276-mile race, covering the four lap course in 4 hours, 49 minutes and 18 seconds for an average speed of 57.24 miles per hour and a margin of victory of 1 minute, 2 seconds.

“This weekend in Primm was the perfect time to be running on Toyo Tires. If I would have had to get out to change a tire, it would have cost us the win,” said Gordon.  “Toyo has changed the game in Off-Road Racing with no flat tires, and I'm proud to be associated with them. We had another perfect race and winning another off road race is a testament to my team and all of the equipment that is supplied to us by outside vendors. Great Job everyone!”

“We congratulate Robby Gordon on his super-human effort to win the SCORE Primm 300,” said Stan Chen, manager of events and motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp.  “Our Open Country M/T-R tires helped deliver race-winning performance and the durability needed to win such a grueling race.”

With this win at Primm, Gordon has extended his overall championship points lead with his sights set on winning the 2009 SCORE desert racing championship.  His next race is the legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, November 19-22, which Gordon and Toyo Tires won in 2006.
