Vredestein rolls out 25-series winter tire

Sept. 2, 2009

Vredestein Banden B.V. has introduced a 25-series winter tire, the Wintrac xtreme. The W-rated tire is offered in 85 sizes and fits wheels up to 20 inches in diameter.

"Sipe technology was a priority for Vredestein in the design of the Wintrac xtreme," say company officials. "Thanks to variations in the depth, width, shape and placement of sipes, two distinct features are combined in the tire. The straight sipes in the center of the tire are angled at 90 degrees to the driving direction, ensuring a maximum grip on snow. The special thinner, zig-zagging sipes in the tread shoulders allow for excellent handling performance."

Other features include Vredestein's Optimum Silica Processing technology for enhanced grip on wet surfaces, directional tread and perpendicular lateral grooves in the tread shoulders.

Vredestein is owned by Apollo Tyres Ltd. of India.
