Goodyear rolls out regional, waste haul truck tires

Aug. 31, 2009

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has introduced several new medium truck tires, including two regional tires and a waste haul tire that can be ordered with the company's DuraSeal Technology.

The G661 HSA steer and all-position tire contains "high scrub-resistant tread, utilizing multi-compound construction that helps to extend tread life when used in local applications which require frequent turning, backing and braking," according to Goodyear officials.

The G662 RSA with Fuel Max Technology has been designed for regional and local haul applications as a steer and all-position tire. It's Goodyear's first regional truck tire that contains the company's Fuel Max technology, which "reduces rolling resistance significantly," says Donn Kramer, Goodyear's director of marketing for commercial tires.

The G662 RSA also is Goodyear's first regional truck tire "to offer a pressure distribution groove to spread weight on the tread for enhanced uniform wear," adds Kramer. The tire boasts 22/32-inch tread depth, 2/32 deeper than previous Goodyear regional tires. It also contains Goodyear's TredLock Technology, interlocking "microgrooves" that help stiffen and stabilize the tread.

Both tires are available in sizes 11R22.5 and 295/75R22.5. The G661 HSA also is available in size 11R24.5.

Goodyear's new waste haul tire, the G289 WHA, comes in size 315/80R22.5 in Load Range L. It has a 10,200-pound capacity. Features include 24/32-inch tread depth to extend tread life, a special waste haul compound, a sidewall protector rib to resist sidewall scuffing, and others.

The G289 WHA can be ordered with Goodyear's DuraSeal Technology.
