Aug. 15, 2009

Representatives from BFGoodrich Tire Manufacturing, a division of Michelin North America Inc., and the United Steelworkers (USW) have reached a tentative agreement covering some 2,500 USW-represented workers at plants in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Fort Wayne, Ind.

The agreement meets the terms the company believes are necessary to retain its competitive posture and to help improve the viability of the BFGoodrich Tire Manufacturing plants going forward.

Details of the tentative agreement -- reached at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009 -- will not be disclosed pending ratification by the USW membership at the facilities.
