Yokohama unveils ADVAN UHP run-flat

July 31, 2009

Yokohama Tire Corp. has introduced its ADVAN Sport ZPS (Zero Pressure System) ultra-high performance run-flat tire. It's available in 13 sizes to fit high-end cars like the BMW 3 Series, the Lexus GS and others.

"The ADVAN Sport ZPS can be driven up to 50 miles at 50 miles per hours after the loss of air," says Shawn Denlein, Yokohama director of sales, consumer products.

Features include a rigid sidewall reinforcement to support the weight of the vehicle after air loss, an exclusive bead filler for a comfortable ride during normal operations and high rigidity under zero-pressure conditions, an extra-thick bead wire in a hexagonal arrangement to reduce the risk of unseating after air loss, and more.

"Yokohama's latest nanotechnology tread compound offers additional grip from the outside, as well," say Yokohama officials. "It bonds super-fine, high-grade silica and polymers at the molecular level to increase flexibility, durability and contact area by approximately 10% for better wet and dry traction at an array of temperatures."
