Ross Miller wins Redline Time Attack! class on Toyo tires

July 30, 2009

Team Toyo Time Attack driver, Ross Miller, piloted the PTUNING 2005 Scion tC equipped with Toyo Proxes R888 street-legal competition tires to a Redline Time Attack! Modified FWD class win in Nashville, Tennessee this past weekend.  In addition to his first place finish, Miller set a new lap record on the road course at Nashville Speedway.

Miller, with his Toyo Proxes R888 equipped Scion, is the 2008 Redline Time Attack! Modified FWD class champion and is seeking a second consecutive championship in 2009.

“My Proxes R888 tires worked beautifully, as always.  This is something I have known to expect from Toyo,” said Miller.  “They offer consistency and speed which is the combination needed to win in these events.”

Also scoring both wins and podiums this past weekend were racers competing with the Proxes R1R extreme performance tire in the Street Touring classes of SCCA ProSolo in Toledo, Ohio.  Team Toyo’s own Tim Smith captured a third place finish in ST while driving his Toyo Tires sponsored 1989 Honda Civic Si.  Smith has won multiple races this year, setting him up to compete in the ProSolo Finale and the 2009 Solo National Championship, both in Lincoln, Nebraska in September.  Other competitors also found success at Toledo using the Proxes R1R, additional Street Touring podiums included:  first and second place in STS with Honda CRX’s, second in STX with an Eagle Talon, and a win in Ladies Class 1 with a Honda Civic Si.

Ideal for road racing, track days and high-performance driving schools, the 100 UTQG Proxes R888 is the Official Tire of SPEED World Challenge.  In addition to winning in autocross (solo) competition, the 140 UTQG Proxes R1R is a back-to-back Formula DRIFT champion, winner and new record holder of the Time Attack 2WD division at the 2009 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and has captured wins in time attack competition around the country.

“We congratulate Ross Miller and PTUNING for another exciting win with their well-prepared Scion,” said Stan Chen, manager of events and motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp.  “Our Proxes R888 and R1R tires continue to be the tire of choice for racers seeking a win in road racing and autocross.”
