TBC Corp. is on track to reach its retail store expansion goals for 2002.

"We are well on our way to surpassing our 2002 store growth objectives with the addition of 59 stores by our retail segment in the first eight months," says Larry Day, CEO and president. "We now have a combined total of 745 Tire Kingdom and Big O retail locations."

Day says that total should reach "at least 760" by the end of the year.

"New store growth is an important part of our multi-channel marketing strategy, and our continued focus and commitment to this strategy is allowing us to outpace the industry."

Day stands by TBC's previously announced "earnings guidance" of $1.22 for fiscal 2002.

As of Sept. 19, TBC's stock was selling for $9.58 a share. Its 52-week per-share high and low is $16.80 and $8.46, respectively.
