An Indian tiremaker's pending acquisition of a Dutch tire company from a Russian tire manufacturer confirms that the tire industry is truly becoming "a small world."

MTD Senior Editor Mike Manges comments on this phenomenon in the latest edition of his Tire Talk with Mike blog on www.moderntiredealer.com.

"Sure, tire companies from France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, China, Finland and other countries have been doing business in the U.S. and Canada for decades," he writes. "But did anyobody ever expect an Indian tire manufacturer to make inroads into this market?"

That could very well happen if Apollo Tyres Ltd.'s acquisition of Vredestein Banden goes through. For more, see Tire Talk with Mike!
