April 14, 2009

The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) says it is looking forward to working with Charles Hurley, the next administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Hurley "has a long career in automotive safety advocacy, including the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, National Safety Council and most recently, the CEO of Mothers Against Drunk Driving," say RMA officials.

His nominatiom "sends a strong signal that (the Obama) Administration shares the tire manufacturing industry's commitment to safety," says RMA CEO and President Charles Cannon.

"If confirmed by the Senate, we look forward to an early opportunity to meet with Mr. Hurley to educate him about our industry's commitment to safety. We would further welcome his partnership in communicating important tire care and maintenance messages to U.S. motorists."
