'Eco' is the way to go, says Kumho

Jan. 23, 2009

For Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc., eco-friendly products are the wave of the present, not a fad. That is why its parent, Kumho Tire Co., is designing tires that will help the environment.

Kumho soon will re-launch its high-end Solus KH-16 tire line as an eco-friendly product line. The company claims that compared to the former version, it will have 20% lower rolling resistance. The KH-21 crossover vehicle tire also will be marketed as eco-friendly.

By the end of the year, Kumho hopes to wean itself away from the use of petroleum-based oil. The use of alternative oils such as citrus will eliminate VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) and PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon) emissions from the company's tire manufacturing processes.

Kumho executives announced its "green" plans at the "2009 Kumho Dealer Meeting" in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
