Jan. 22, 2009

Pirelli & Cie SpA has opened a new Pirelli Tire Campus in Yanzhou/Shandong, China.

The new Tire Campus is dedicated to improving the interactions between all functions of the Pirelli Group and to develop technical skills in product and service for both car and truck businesses. It utilizes advanced technologies, training aids and equipment with the cooperation of leading partners of complementary segments with a focus on technical, commercial and management areas.

“The inauguration of the Tire Campus has further marked the commitment of Pirelli to play a leading role in the tire industry, especially in the high-end segment,” says Pirelli China CEO Giuseppe Cattaneo. “Apart from the tire industry’s OE and the replacement markets, the auto industry at large will also benefit from Pirelli Tire Campus’ training program, and will be better equipped with the advanced tire technology and professionalism they will learn there.”

In 2009, an estimated 500 trainees including car and truck tire distributors, key dealers and Pirelli employees will attend the training program. The training programs will be extended to cover the auto industry and end users. In the near future, the Pirelli Tire Campus will also train Pirelli’s distributors and dealers as well as related business associates from other Asian countries.

Since 2005, the Pirelli Tire Campuses in countries such as Italy, Turkey, Brazil and Egypt have served more than 2,000 dealers, customers and retailers from Europe, Russia, Romania, Egypt and Africa. Tire Campus has also received important recognition by external organizations and institutions: Mercedes, Volkswagen Group, Skoda, Ford, Fiat and many other public companies.
