ASA software facilitates electronic tire registration

ASA Tire Systems anticipates that Congress "will pass a bill allowing tire dealers to register tires electroncially, as an option to the current paper form system." ASA's TreadX software has the ability to capture DOT information at the point of sale and electronically transmit the registration of tires.

In addition, TreadX now offers an interface to paper registration form supplier CIMS Tire Registration & Retread Identification Co., say ASA officials.

"With the new interface, TreadX users collect and enter DOT numbers, and appropriate tire registration information. That data is then transmitted via FTP from the TreadX software system directly to CIMS. In turn, CIMS will register the tires with the corresponding manufacturers."

"By utilizing the interface between ASA's TreadX software and CIMS' Tire Registration Clearinghouse, tire dealers can fully comply with (federal government) regulations by registering every tire at the point of sale for the absolute minimum cost," explains CIMS President Paul Kruder.

"Registering tires at the point of sale allows tire dealers to achieve (the government's) ultimate goal of registering 100% of tires sold, which is a 'win-win' situation for tire dealers and tire purchasers."
