Jan. 15, 2009

Labor contracts with the three largest tire manufacturers in North America will expire this summer. What do you think will happen?

Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich offers his thoughts on the situation in his latest blog: "Tire manufacturers get ready to go into 'labor' again." He points out that the United Steelworkers may be at a disadvantage at the negotiating table this time around.

Not all of the negotiations went well in 2006, and little points to easy resolutions this time around. However, the state of the economy may weigh in on how smoothly talks between negotiators from the union and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Bridgestone Americas Inc. and Michelin North America Inc., respectively, go.
