Raybestos teams with IndyCar Series through 2009

April 10, 2008

Affinia Group Inc. and its Affinia Under Vehicle Group are putting their Raybestos brakes to the test at Indy-style open wheel racing events.

As part of a two-year partnership with the Indy Racing League, Raybestos will be the "preferred competition brake friction" of the IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights at all road and street course races through 2009.

Affinia is taking full advantage of the relationship by showcasing it in its advertising. Plans call for using competition imagery and the Indy Racing League's premiere drivers in Raybestos brand advertising, consumer promotions and point-of-sale marketing materials.

In addition, the company will support the series and its teams with individual race incentives, ongoing technical assistance and development.

The announcement renews a relationship between Raybestos and Indy-style open wheel racing that dates back decades. Many Indianapolis 500 competitors and champions throughout the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s raced on Raybestos brakes. They are also the official brakes of NASCAR.
