Labor contract talks to resume between Goodyear and USW

Dec. 15, 2006

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will resume formal contract negotiations with the United Steelworkers (USW) on Monday, Dec. 18, the company reports on its www.goodyearnegotiations.com Web site.

Negotiating committees from both sides will reconvene in Pittsburgh, Pa., beginning Monday morning.

This will be the first time both teams have met since Thursday, Nov. 16.

The union reports it "has consulted its Bargaining Committee and has agreed to resume negotiations."

It added that its "national Day of Action (Saturday, Dec. 16) in solidarity with other AFL-CIO unions at Goodyear retailers at 150 sites throughout North America will go forward as planned."

Union members have been on strike at 16 North American Goodyear tire facilities since Oct. 5, affecting 15,000 workers.
