Ford awards Pirelli plant with Q1 Accreditation

Dec. 15, 2006

Pirelli Tire North America Inc. has been awarded Ford Motor Co.'s Q1 Accreditation for the operational excellence and customer commitment of its Rome, Ga., plant.

"This is a prestigious award from a world-class organization and is a sure indication of the rapidly developing capability of our company in the U.S." says Francesco Gori, managing director of Pirelli Tire SpA.

"Pirelli Tire North America is focused on selective growth in both the replacement and original equipment markets in the U.S., and the Ford Motor Co. is very much part of that strategy, making it doubly satisfying to receive the accolade of their Q1 Accreditation."

Ford's Q1 Accreditation is a set of fundamental quality and manufacturing disciplines that guide cooperation between Ford and its suppliers for superior quality execution.

Pirelli's consumer tire manufacturing facility, which utilizes Pirelli's unique MIRS (Modular Integrated Robotized System) technology, met or exceeded each challenging criteria in every Q1 category as a Ford supplier.
