Former Mohawk Chairman and CEO Hank Fawcett dies

Henry "Hank" Fawcett, former chairman and CEO of Mohawk Rubber Co., died on Friday. He was 87.

An All-American basketball player in college and lieutenant junior grade in the Navy during World War II, Fawcett enjoyed a long career at Mohawk. Yokohama Tire Corp. purchased the Ohio-based company in 1989.

Fawcett was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ellen, and his grandson, Stephen. He is survived by his daughters, Jane Comunale and Julie Deane of Akron and Ellen Tobin of Vero Beach, Fla.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Stephen A. Comunale Jr. Family Fund Foundation, P.O. Box 13805, Akron, OH 44333, "or a charity of your choice," according to the family.
