With more than $150 million in strike funds, the United Steelworkers claims it has enough resources for its 15,000 striking members to "easily" support a two-year strike at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
"Goodyear has been vocal in its belief that it can withstand the effects of having 15 of its North American facilities on strike," the bulletin states.
The union cites strikes against Bridgestone/Firestone in the mid-1990s and Titan International in the late '90s as examples of its ability to withstand long disputes.
